From the Guardian's website:
We’re giving away tickets to Guardian Live’s seasonally spooky event at the Tabernacle on Friday 9 October. The panel includes author Audrey Niffenegger, Jeremy Dyson from The League of Gentlemen and writer Kim Newman. The panel will be chaired by John Mullan, head of English at UCL and presenter of the Guardian’s Book Club. The draw closes on Sunday 4 October.
As Halloween approaches, Guardian Live is hosting a candlelit evening of haunted houses, chilling tales and things that go bump in the night. Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler’s Wife), Jeremy Dyson (The League of Gentleman, Ghost Stories) and Kim Newman (Anno Dracula) discuss the art of the ghost story.
Inspired by folklore, inhabiting ancient woods and crumbling old houses, populated by mad monks and women in white, these stories also often reflected the issues of their day. Our panel will read from some of their favourite stories - from wonderfully chilling tales by Edgar Allan Poe and MR James to more recent work - and talk about why they enthral and terrify us. Our panel will be chaired by John Mullan, head of English at UCL.
We’re giving away a limited number of tickets to Ghost stories. Our draw closes on Sunday 4 October and we will contact the winners on the morning of 5 October.
