Close out your Halloween weekend with a benefit for CHIPRC at Chicago’s historic 1940s speakeasy, the California Clipper!
The All Hallows’ Day Variety Show will feature readings (literary and mind!), comics, shadow puppetry, music, and other multi-media delights to benefit Chicago's own CHIPRC (Chicago Publisher’s Resource Center).
Performers include artist/author Audrey Niffenegger (Her Fearful Symmetry), poet & CantoMundo Fellow Jacob Saenz, comics icon Marnie Galloway, author Billy Lombardo (Logic of a Rose), mentalist Jason Adams, and DJ Konstantin Jace spinning vintage 78s.
Festivities will also include Academy Award Nominated Documentarian John Maloof (Finding Vivian Meier) taking Polaroid portraits; the debut of an original stop motion animation created by illustrator Rachal Duggan & designer Susie Kirkwood; a new shadow puppet show from Jill Summers and Susie Kirkwood; the inaugural performance of the Little Hinojosa Puppet Theatre; and the California Clipper’s resident woman in white who is known to appear in booths one and nine, and sometimes in the ladies room.
$10 cover includes a raffle ticket for a chance at winning fantastic, disturbing artwork from Rachal Duggan, Rich Salamander, and The Flippest, a VIP membership to the Anything Ghost podcast, and an animal communication session with the astounding Catrina Luke.
Festive dress and costumes welcomed!
All proceeds benefit the Chicago Publisher’s Resource Center.
